5 Vintage Wedding Ideas to Inspire You

Old is new, new is old. A vintage theme to your wedding can make for such a beautiful and romantic backdrop to your day. I’m going to avoid throwing around the word “trend” as I think vintage transcends passing fads. Incorporating old-world items and antiques into your wedding will stand the test of time (they’ve already stood the test of time!), and using family heirlooms from both sides of the family just adds to the personal and romantic feel to the day. You’ll also be crossing off something ‘old’ from your list. Just look for something new, borrowed and blue.

From invitations to your getaway vehicle, it's easy to incorporate a vintage feel to your wedding day. Here are my favorite 5 vintage wedding ideas to inspire you:

1. Chalkboard Cake

There are plenty of opportunities during your wedding for white, lacy, and flowery (now don’t get me wrong… I love all things white, lacy, and flowery), so why not take a step toward the more dramatic with your wedding cake. Break free from wedding cake confines and use vintage scripts and drawings on a chalkboard cake. I’m in love.

2. Vintage Hanky Favors

So simple and so sweet. And so practical… have you been to a wedding without a few teary eyes? Love the eclectic feel to the colors and patterns.

3. Lace Bridal Cap and Veil

I said I’m not opposed to lace, and I find this lace head cap and veil so pretty and romantic. It fits right in with a vintage theme, and as a bonus you don’t have to worry about having a bad hair day. To me a statement headpiece says just how comfortable you are in your own skin. And that’s sexy.

4. DIY Cans

Here you can roll a DIY project, inspiring quotes, and noisy things into one element! It’s a win:win. These cans remind me of the innocence of days gone by, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

5. Adorable Flower Girls

Just look at the picture… need I say more. A vintage wedding is right up the alley for an adorable flower girl in a vintage smock with pale pink floral accents. Oh. My. Heart.
